Sad news to report in Leafs Nation on Saturday as the Leafs have announced that a six-time Stanley Cup Champion, who won four Cups with the Leafs in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967 has passed away this week at the age of 85.

Defenseman Larry Hillman played 791 career NHL games, recording 36 goals and 196 assists for 232 points across a 19-year NHL career, split between the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota North Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and Buffalo Sabres.

Hillman also played 71 games for the WHA's Winnipeg Jets in 1975-76 before the Jets joined the NHL ranks when the merger with the WHA was finalized in 1979.

Once his playing days were over, Hillman became an assistant coach for the WHA's Calgary Cowboys (1976-77), departing Calgary for the head coaching with the Winnipeg Jets in 1977-78, posting a 50-28-2 record in his first year as a head coach, winning a WHA Championship.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Hillman family during this difficult time.
