The Toronto Maple Leafs can't seem to escape COVID-19, as the team announced on Friday that they have placed forwards Ondrej Kase and Nick Ritchie and defenseman Justin Holl in COVID-19 protocol.
The news comes right before the Leafs are scheduled to practice in Arizona this afternoon. Barring a false positive, this rules out all three players for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Blues and possibly Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers.
The Leafs will have to make corresponding roster moves ahead of tomorrow's game. Fortunately for the Leafs, forwards Mitch Marner and Pierre Engvall are expected to join the team for practice today.
At this point it does not appear that any other Leafs will be added to protocol, but, as we've come to learn, the situation is fluid and could change at any moment.
