It may be a little too early to tell, but the Toronto Maple Leafs may have struck gold with 2019 4th round pick Nick Abruzzese. The 22-year-old pivot had already earned himself an invite from USA Hockey to join their Olympic roster last week, but now he's earned himself another great honour.

Per Harvard Men's Hockey's official Twitter account, Abruzzese and teammate Sean Farrell (MON) have played their way into becoming Hobey Baker Award nominees.

Abruzzese, a USHL product, is in his second season with Harvard University in the ECAC and hasn't skipped a beat after missing out on his entire sophomore season due to COVID-19 shutting down play last year.

In 13 games with the Crimson this year, Abruzzese has notched 5 goals and 16 assists for 21 points, putting him on pace to surpass the 44 points he put up in his freshman year in 2019-20.

Previous winners of the prestigious award include Cole Caufield (MON), Cale Makar (COL), Jack Eichel (VGK) and Johnny Gaudreau (CGY), just to name a few.

Congrats to Abruzzese on the incredible honour and best of luck to him the rest of the way!
