Leafs reveal what they gave Mark Giordano for setting new NHL record; no, it wasn't a golden shin pad..
On February 26th Mark Giordano set the NHL record for blocked shots against Seattle recording block number 2045. Kyle Dubas and the Leafs presented Giordano with a very fitting and unique gift for setting the new record.
The Leafs presented Giordano with a shield that features the logos of all three teams Giordano has played for in his 17 NHL seasons (Flames, Leafs, Kraken) and his number in Toronto, 55.
"This is awesome," Giordano said. "I do whatever it takes to win and I know everyone in here is the same. Thanks, boys."
Giordano has been a steady presence on the blueline for the Leafs since being acquired at last years' deadline. So much so that he signed a 2-year extension for $850K per season that ends at the end of next season.
