Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves has been out of action for just over 2 weeks as he has recovered from a knee injury. The injury was suffered on December 14th against the Columbus Blue Jackets where Reaves had gone to turn towards the boards, but caught a rut. The rut forced his knee to pop out and forced him out of the game. Initially, it was thought that he was going to be out for some time, but the following day he was seen riding the bike, which eased the Leafs' concerns.
Reaves returned to practice Monday, but won't play in the first two games on the Leafs California road trip. When asked about the injury, Reaves revealed that it has been an ongoing issue and that he is often the one that pops it back into place, but was unable to this time.
Reaves, who signed a 3-year deal with the Leafs July 1st, has had a tough start to his tenure in Toronto. In 21 games he has just 1 goal and is a minus -11 while averaging slightly more than 7 minutes of ice time per game. Hopefully the time off has rejuvenated Reaves and he is able to contribute in a more positive way once he returns to the lineup.
