Marner's carjackers reportedly apprehended by Toronto Police
Days after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for the sixth straight year, things went from bad to worse for Mitch Marner. Marner was looking to have a night out with his now fiancé and was carjacked at gun-point. Marner's Range Rover was stolen, and he was obviously shaken up, as were his teammates when they spoke to the media. Thankfully, he and his fiance were not harmed in the incident.
After almost 10 months, Toronto Police announced today that they have arrested two of the three people involved in the carjacking and recovered Marner's vehicle. Police arrested a 24-year-old from Brampton and 21-year-old from Toronto in connection with the carjacking of Marner's vehicle and a second carjacking that occurred a month prior.
While it's not something anyone wants to go through, Marner has done his best to put it behind him and continues to be a driving force of the Leafs' offence. Through 64 games this season, he leads the team in points with 79 and assists with 56 and has become a much more dependable defensive player in the process.
