Matt Murray was expected to start tonight against his former team, the Ottawa Senators. Unfortunately, after a few minutes on the ice, Murray appeared to be in some discomfort and after speaking with goalie coach Curtis Sanford and medical staff he departed practice.

It appeared as though he was favouring his left side, but where exactly is unknown. That leaves Ilya Samsonov as the only goalie on the ice for Leafs practice. Not only that but it now puts the Leafs in a difficult situation as they have no goalies available to them that are signed to an NHL contract. Joseph Woll is hurt, Erik Kallgren left last night's Marlies game after getting run over and Dylan Ferguson is currently on an AHL deal.

It's really anyone's guess what happens here, but it appears likely that either Murray backs up Samsonov and plays through the pain if necessary, or the team may have to utilize an emergency backup goaltender as their number two option behind Samsonov tonight. I'm sure we'll have some more clarity relatively shortly.
