Bunting's quick return comes as a huge sigh of relief for the Leafs, as he's been crucial on the top line puck-hunting for Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews.
The Scarborough native also returned to the ice for Leafs practice, but skated as an extra, indicating that he will not return to the lineup against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
With 23 goals and 40 assists in 78 games so far this season himself, Bunting has made himself a nice spot and role on the first-line. His tough playstyle, physicality, and ability to get under the opponents skin makes him an extremely valuable piece heading into the playoffs. The Leafs will want to fully utilize that grinding skill set against their more-than-likely first round opponent, Tampa Bay Lightning.
