I think a lot of Leafs fans are holding onto hope that Kadri decides he'd like to come back to Toronto, but I don't think that's in the cards unless the Leafs undergo some sort of a front office facelift that sees both Kyle Dubas and Brendan Shanahan moving on from the club, but Naz will have no shortage of interested teams if he makes it until July 13th without a contract.
If it were up to Mikko Rantanen, Kadri wouldn't be going anywhere. Rantanen actually took to social media to answer some fan questions this week, one of which was "will Nazem Kadri be back with the Avs this season?" Rantanen joked that he and Joe [Sakic] were going to make it happen.
If Kadri does not return to Colorado this summer and instead decides to chase the bag, he's certainly earned it. That said, Kadri is a competitor and wants to win, so staying in Colorado would certainly give him an excellent chance to do that. He's already commented that he knows the value he brings to the table, so I don't think the Avs are going to get him to take a big hair cut to stay. With big deals coming up for the likes of Nathan MacKinnon, Bowen Byram and Erik Johnson next summer, the Avs will have to be cautious not to over-spend this summer. That said, I'm sure Sakic has an ace up his sleeve.
