The work never truly ends for NHL players. Even in the off-season, they train, work with development staff, and often have to rehab injuries. By the time summer rolls around, a little R&R is probably the best thing for them. But for Habs forward Paul Byron, a fishing trip on Lac Des Sables, about 90 minutes north of Montreal turned out to be anything but relaxing.

Byron was with several family members when a sea plane pilot lost control of his aircraft and crashed into the lake nearby. The group sprang into action to help pull the pilot from the wreckage. Byron's brother-in-law, Neal LeBlond, posted several photos of the crash on Facebook shortly after the incident took place.

Byron was being dubbed a hero, but he was very quick to point out that it was someone else who was actually the hero of the story. He took to social media to ensure that credit was given to Serge Labelle for his heroic actions. Labelle was the first to reach the crash site and was, according to Byron, the one who saved the pilot's life. Byron made it very clear that he was merely assisting in the rescue. Still pretty heroic.

The pilot sustained several injuries, but was awake and alert when he was pulled from the plane. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries.

Crazy story! I'd imagine that's one they'll all tell their grandkids one day.
