New Leafs jersey numbers revealed
We're just about a month away from the start of Leafs training camp and I'm sure everyone in Leafs Nation is looking forward to the start of the preseason and the return of hockey.
One of the fun parts of training camp and the preseason is when we are able to get our first look at the fresh faces who are coming in either from the Leafs' own development program or from trades or free agency. The Leafs will have plenty of new faces coming in this fall and with new faces comes new jersey numbers.
We already know that Matt Murray will wear the number 30, while Ilya Samsonov will switch to number 35. We know that Adam Gaudette will switch to Nick Foligno's #71. We know that Nicolas Aube-Kubel will don #96 and that Victor Mete will be the first Leaf in history to wear #98. Now, we also know which numbers Jordie Benn and Calle Jarnkrok will wear.
According to the NHL Jersey Numbers account on Twitter, Jordie Benn will take over Michael Amadio's #18 from last season, while Calle Jarnkrok will have the honour of wearing Spezza's #19. Jarnkrok has also worn #19 through the vast majority of his NHL career.
