As if this season wasn't already choppy enough for Nick Robertson, the oft-injured winger has found himself on the receiving end of perhaps another significant injury after being sent hard into the boards by Kings defenseman Matt Roy.

At about the mid-way point of the first period, still scoreless, the 21-year-old winger was in a race with Roy for a loose puck in the corner, when Roy, 6-foot-1, 205 lbs, laid out Robertson, 5'9, 183 lbs with an enormous hit.

Originally, the play appeared to be a slew-foot, but upon a second glance, it was abundantly clear that it was simply two players battling for a puck, with the larger man getting the better of an otherwise clean exchange.

Regardless of how clean or dirty the hit might have been, not a single Leaf on the ice went after Roy for what, at the time, looked like a slew-foot. The lack of a response to the hit, especially one that resulted in an injury is causing some unrest on social media, as many felt as though the Leafs should have had a more energetic response to the play to stick up for their downed man.

Robertson was extremely slow to get up following the hit and needed assistance to make his way off the ice and down the tunnel. While no status update has been provided as of yet, I'd be surprised to see him return to the game.
