Essentially, with all four of those players gone, the Hawks will only have Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane remaining within their top 6 forwards, but not for long it appears. Craig Button has reported that there is zero chance that Patrick Kane will want to stay in Chicago with the forward corps completely gutted. That is understandable given the fact that he has been left with absolutely no one to play with.
Kane has 1-year left on his deal that pays him $10.5M for the season. It is a difficult contract for the Hawks to move given his lofty salary, so retention is likely the only way the deal gets moved, especially to a contending team either this summer or at the deadline. The good news for the Hawks is that the return will likely be enormous, as Kane is the type of player who can absolutely start a bidding war.
The rest of the off-season will be a whirlwind for the Hawks and GM Kyle Davidson as they push further into their rebuild.
