Chris Johnston is reporting that the New Jersey Devils have signed 31-year-old Ondrej Palat to a long term contract of five years, that is will carry a cap hit of $6M per season.
The former 208th overall pick has spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Lightning. This season, he amassed 18 goals and 31 assists for a total of 49 points in 77 games. He was also a huge factor in the Lightning's playoff run this season, racking up 21 points in 23 games with 11 goals and 10 assists.
Ondrej Palat has been a key depth player for the Tampa Bay Lightning, so definitely expect him to slot in on one of the top 2 lines in NJ. His gritty style of play is something the Devils were missing and it will certainly go a long way in pushing their team to the next level.
