Ovechkin trolls reporters after injury prevents him from practicing
After taking a maintenance day yesterday, Alex Ovechkin came out before the Caps' practice, skated briefly and left the ice again after talking to Head Coach Peter Laviolette briefly. This sent Washington media members scrambling for answers as to why the superstar left winger wasn't skating with the team.
Shortly after practice, they gathered in the media room, ready to ask their questions and speak to players and coaches. Ovechkin walked by the open door, stopped in the doorway smiled, shrugged, and walked away without a word. Leaving the poor reporters even more confused than they had been before practice started.
Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette did reveal to the media that Ovechkin is nursing an upper body injury and was held out as a precaution to make sure he's good to go for the weekend. The Caps will play the Islanders Saturday and the Canucks Sunday.
