Projected first overall pick deep fries popular NHL analyst with solid chirp on live broadcast
Ahead of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, the NHL treated some of its top prospects to a trip to Vegas to do some interviews and take in the atmosphere and the game. Projected first overall pick Connor Bedard was among those prospects and prior to Game 2, he joined the NHL on TNT panel for a short interview.
Bedard, projected to be the next generational talent, sat next to the greatest to ever play the game, Wayne Gretzky, and they were joined by Anson Carter, Henrik Lundqvist and Paul Bissonnette. To begin the interview, panel host Liam McHugh asked Bedard if he was used to this (the atmosphere, interviews and meeting former players) new normal.
Bedard responded by saying, "It's pretty crazy. I'm super grateful, the NHL doing this is incredible." He then proceeded to absolutely roast the most popular NHL on TNT analyst in Bissonnette.
Bissonnette later took to Twitter to respond saying "Gary Bettman and Connor Bedard putting me in a body bag back-to-back broadcasts". Bissonnette has always been one to chirp his teammates and fellow panelists, but he is more than willing to take a few shots as well and it has made for some great TV and viral moments that have likely done what the NHL wanted TNT to do - grow the game.
