This week, Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov took part in an interview to talk about a wide range of subjects. One of the items he touched on during the interview was extremely unsettling for readers.

As we all know, Amirov has been battling a brain tumor since this past winter. He has been receiving treatments in Germany, with the Leafs and his KHL club footing the bill. Apparently, after Amirov had returned home from a round of treatment in Germany, he was confronted by members of the Russian army, who summoned him for mandatory military service. Yes, it's true.

The ordeal wasn't a bad one, thankfully, as Amirov confirmed that the army had forced him to go through the proper protocols before officially writing him off.

"When I arrived from Germany, they came to my house, handed me a summons - they filmed it on camera. They say they pick you up in 3 days. Then I went to the military registration and enlistment office, filled out the documents, and they wrote me off."

Honestly, it's great that they wrote him off, but was that whole process really necessary? Amirov still has two rounds of treatment remaining. He is currently enduring one of the rounds now, reportedly receiving treatments 5 times per week.
