One part of the heated exchange between Kane and Hartman in particular received a lot of attention. After Kane removed his helmet and urged the official to let him go so that he and Hartman could square off, Hartman gave Kane the finger, which only enraged the 30-year-old Oiler even more.
We had a pretty good sense that some form of supplemental discipline was coming for Hartman, with the vast majority of people assuming that he would be fined for unsportsmanlike conduct. That's exactly what happened on Tuesday.
Per the NHL's Department of Player Safety, Hartman has been fined $4,250 for unsportsmanlike conduct for flipping Evander Kane the bird. It is the maximum amount allowable under the current CBA. Hartman had stated on Tuesday night that if he was indeed fined it would be money well spent.
Following the game, Hartman had a lot to say about Kane - none of them nice things. One of the comments he made was about how all 5 Wild players on the ice were involved in the scrum with Kane, while none of Kane's Oilers teammates stepped up to come to his aid and even the playing field with the Oilers down 5-1 midway through the third period.
