Sad news, as a former Leafs goaltender passes away just before the holidays
A bit delayed, but there is some unfortunate news to share on Thursday as we have learned of the passing of former Maple Leafs goalie Curt Ridley on Monday.
A bit of a journeyman in hockey, Ridley was drafted with the 28th pick by the Boston Bruins in the 2nd round of the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft and went on to play parts of 6 seasons with the Leafs, Rangers and Canucks, though he spent the majority of his career in the CHL and the AHL.
Ridley played 104 games in the NHL during his professional career, compiling a 27-47-16 record, posting one NHL shutout. His career SV% in the NHL was .810 and his career GAA was 3.88.
Ridley was 70 years old at the time of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
