Seattle Kraken fans appear angry that the Kraken signed Shane Wright to his ELC; they CAN'T be serious.. right?
For the Seattle Kraken, July 7th, 2022 could very well go down as one of the most important dates in franchise history. It's the date when long-time consensus #1 overall pick Shane Wright fatefully slipped to the Kraken at #4 overall.
Seattle is new to professional hockey and so, naturally, there are going to be some knowledge gaps. Exhibit A: Kraken fan reactions to Wright signing his ELC in Seattle.
Yes, that's right. It would appear as though fans were upset with the fact that Wright landed a 3-year ELC.
Now, I sincerely doubt that these are serious reactions. They are far more likely gag reactions to draw attention to the fact that their franchise is brand new and that some fans don't yet know the inner workings of the business side of the game, but honestly, sometimes you just never know.
Seattle has MLB, NFL and NBA franchises, all of whom sign prospects to ELC's every year, so I would lean more towards these reactions being a gag than anything else.
