The Leafs were back at work in Gravenhurst on Thursday, though head coach Sheldon Keefe had some pretty drastic lineup changes from what we saw earlier in the week. For starters, he had Alexander Kerfoot, Calle Jarnkrok, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Pierre Engvall and Zach Aston-Reese skating as extras.

As far as who is drawing back in, it would appear as though Keefe may be preparing to give some of his depth guys one last chance to make a huge impression. Those players include Alex Steeves, Adam Gaudette, Kyle Clifford and Wayne Simmonds. Per Leafs correspondent David Alter, William Nylander (once again taking reps at center during practice) will be flanked by Steeves and Gaudette, while David Kampf will have Clifford and Simmonds patrolling his wings.

On defense, Rasmus Sandin appears to still be on the outside looking in, skating as an extra alongside Filip Kral. Sandin signed his new 2-year contract late last week and has missed most of training camp. The plan, according to Keefe, was to get Sandin some reps in at practice to prepare him for one or both of the last two preseason games. It's looking more and more likely that Sandin may only get Saturday's game against Detroit.

Buckle up for the final two exhibition games, folks - because the regular season kicks off next week! We have an interesting week ahead as teams will need to be cap compliant by Monday at 5pm ET, so plenty of cuts are coming.
