Sheldon Keefe has confirmed his goaltender for Wednesday night's Next Gen game against the New Jersey Devils. Surprisingly, Keefe has elected to go back to the struggling Petr Mrazek over the up-and-coming Erik Kallgren.

After a subpar showing Saturday in Nashville, Kallgren will revert to the backup and Mrazek will have an opportunity to take over the starting role once again. It has been an eventful 10 days for Mrazek since his last start on March 13th. Not only was he placed on and cleared waivers, but his name was also revealed to have been involved in conversations with Chicago prior to the deadline in a move that would've seen the Leafs land Marc-Andre Fleury, had Fleury agreed to waive his no trade clause.

Leafs GM Kyle Dubas, head coach Sheldon Keefe and Mrazek himself all agree that his play hasn't been up to standard this season. Perhaps Mrazek clearing waivers will be a wake-up call to him. Keefe recently stated that he believes that Mrazek has shown what type of goaltender he has been over his career. He doesn't believe that who we've seen in Toronto is the real Mrazek.

Hopefully Mrazek has hit the reset button and delivers a quality start for the Leafs. Over his last 5 starts he has posted a save% over .900 just once and has given up 3 or more goals in each of those starts going 2-2 with 1 no decision where he was pulled, forcing Kallgren to make his NHL debut.
