Well, it's pretty safe to say that Game 1 against the Lightning didn't go the way that the Leafs had envisioned. Not only was the officiating worse than anticipated, but the Bolts filled the net early and often, skating away with a 7-3 victory in Toronto, which left fans fleeing for the doors early. Those who did remain stuck around to boo the team as they made their way off the ice.

Following the game, Sheldon Keefe was among those who spoke with the media. Keefe addressed a variety of questions, one of which was whether or not the team was nervous coming into the game. His response indicated that he was less than impressed with how his team handled themselves, nervous or not.

"We were on our heels and Sammy was fighting the puck early on. He's been in such a groove, that to me was maybe a sign. But I don't think nerves have anything to do with why we don't defnd our net and allow a guy (Perry) to walk out from (behind the goal line)." - Keefe on his team failing to execute in their own zone

In Keefe's mind, it was mistakes in the defensive zone that were responsible for last night's loss. The team just didn't stick to the program, almost altering how they were approaching every single engagement instead of going with what they already know was working.
