For those who may have missed this play in the chaos that was last night, Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov crossed a line when he, out of frustration, two-hand whacked Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kyle Burroughs in the face following a play in which Burroughs had lost his stick and was attempting to put himself between Kuznetsov and the puck to prevent a scoring chance.

It's one of the dirtier plays we've seen in recent memory and certainly the worst offense of this young season. Apparently, the NHL's Department of Player Safety agrees, as Kuznetsov has been offered a hearing with Player Safety, which is set to take place later today.

I can't imagine this is going to be a short suspension, given the fact that Kuznetsov willingly used his stick as a weapon out of frustration and struck another player in the face. I have a feeling that we're going to see something around the 4-5 game mark and perhaps something even in excess of 5 games. Let's face it. It's warranted here.
