Less than 24 hours after losing Ilya Samsonov due to injury and signing Marlies starter Keith Petruzzelli to an ELC, Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe had some good news for Leafs Nation regarding injured goaltender Matt Murray.

Per Keefe, Murray has been progressing well in his recovery from an adductor injury suffered during a practice back at the beginning of the season. In fact, Murray is slated to join the team at practice on Tuesday ahead of their matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Murray will not play against the Golden Knights, but Keefe did say that his return is "on the horizon". Whether that means he'll return at some point next week or not remains to be seen, but for a team with their top 3 goaltenders currently sidelined, any news is good news when it comes to progress being made.

After a sensational training camp that saw Murray post an otherworldly .970 SV% across 3 appearances, the 28-year-old made it into just one game with the Leafs before ending up on LTIR, a 4-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on opening night.
