Teammates collide as Evander Kane lays out Connor McDavid with hard, accidental blindside hit
In recent years, the NHL has done what it could in an attempt to try to eliminate blindside hits from the game, but even with fines and suspensions increasing in frequency, the speed of the game is very high and sometimes those hits still happen.
On Friday, Evander Kane caught someone looking the other way, but unfortunately for him, it wasn't an opposing player. Even more unfortunately, it was his own line mate. It gets worse. That line mate was Connor McDavid.
McDavid was very slow to get up, but he was able to make it to the Oilers' bench under his own power. Thankfully, after being looked over by the team's medical staff, McDavid only missed a couple of shifts before getting right back out there and finished the game with over 20 minutes of ice time.
Who would have thought that during the Battle of Alberta, the hardest hit landed by either team would be Kane on McDavid?
