The entire hockey community was in shock and completely devastated when a semi-truck driver ran into a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos hockey team on April 6th, 2018, killing 16 and injuring 13 more. On Saturday night, another horrific scene had occurred involving a college hockey team bus being hit by a semi-truck - this time Chicago's St. Ignatius College Prep's hockey team - leaving 16 injured, 3 critically.

According to WGN TV, the bus hit a semi-truck driven by Victor Santos, who failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody by police. He is now facing DUI-related charges.

Santos reportedly ran a red light, causing the college hockey team's bus to collide with his semi-truck. He also reportedly did not stop and continued driving until he ran into a ditch. According to reports, the bus was flipped onto its side when first responders arrived on the scene.

The NHL's Chicago Blackhawks have requested that the hockey world keep St. Ignatius in their thoughts and prayers.

The President of St. Ignatius released a statement following the terrifying incident, which admittedly could have been a whole lot worse.

"We will get through this together. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with them."

Our thoughts and prayers are going out to the players, their families, the team and anyone else who was involved or impacted by this horrific event.
