It's been a longer road back for veteran defenseman Jake Muzzin than expected after the 32-year-old sustaining a concussion prior to the All-Star break.

Briefly it looked like he would return just prior to the break, as he was seen in a regular practice jersey one day, but then regressed to the traditional non-contact red jersey the next day with Keefe saying that he took a step back and would be out until sometime after the All-Star break.

With Muzzin slotted next to Holl in his usual Top 4 spot at Tuesday's practice, it looks like the Woodstock, ON native will be making his return to the Leaf lineup just in time to annoy Matthew Tkachuk once more as the Leafs head to Calgary to take on the Flames Thursday night.

With the Leafs rolling a healthy defensive corps into Calgary and hopefully beyond, it will give Leafs GM Kyle Dubas and company a better idea of what they have and what, if any, weaknesses that they may need to address before the trade deadline.

As Dubas mentioned in his press conference on Sunday, they don't have many bullets in the chamber, so if this unfortunate, but possibly much needed break for Muzzin helps him and Holl find their form from last year as a shut down pair, it will go a long way in allowing Dubas to focus on other areas of concern or need.
