According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Anaheim Ducks and Buffalo Sabres are both reportedly interested in Leafs defender Travis Dermott. Well now, again, according to Pagnotta, there are 3 additional teams with interest in the 25-year-old.
TFP are now linking Dermott to Columbus, Winnipeg and Vancouver - 3 teams who the Leafs have been scouting heavily in recent weeks. These teams all have something in common as well. Each of them has at least one defender that the Leafs could have interest in.
We know that the Leafs' primary target remains Ducks defender Hampus Lindholm, and Dermott would make sense as a part of a package to acquire the 6-foot-4 blueliner, but the Buds also need a contingency plan in case they miss out on Lindholm.
Winnipeg's Brendan Dillon, Vancouver's Luke Schenn, Buffalo's Colin Miller and Andrew Peeke are all defensemen who may interest the Leafs.
Dermott has one year remaining after this one on his current contract. He carries a $1.5M cap hit and has routinely been the Leafs' 7th or 8th defender this season.
