Last night against Minnesota, Zegras added another lacrosse goal to his highlight reel. Or so he thought at least. This might have been Zegras' cleanest lacrosse goal to date, but unfortunately, Minnesota challenged the play for offside and the goal was overturned by a fraction of an inch, literally. Watch the offside replay below and you'll see another Ducks forward's skates were passed the blue line millimeters before the puck fully crossed the line.
Unfortunately, the called back goal changed the complexion of the game as it would have put the Ducks up 1-0 at the time. The Ducks went on to lose the game 4-1.
If the goal is to make the game more exciting and to generate more offense, having these types of plays reviewed over the smallest of details is not the way to do it. Play reviews are fine for certain things, but this call had almost no bearing on the play whatsoever. The goaltender was beat clean, it was a highlight reel play and was exciting to watch. Having a play like that negated over a fraction of the inch is a joke.
