Two former Leafs drop the gloves in a preseason tilt that ends in a devastating knockout
The NHL preseason is off to the races and players are looking to make the biggest impact possible for their respective clubs in hopes of earning a roster spot for the upcoming season.
During a clash between Metropolitan Division rivals, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jamie Devane and Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ben Harpur came together for a heavyweight tilt in the Columbus zone. If those two names sound familiar, they should. They're both former Leafs. Both Devane and Harpur spent time with the AHL's Toronto Marlies - Devane from 2009-2015 and Harpur just one lone season in 2019-20.
Unfortunately for Harpur, he picked the wrong guy to drop the mitts with and Devane made sure Harpur remembers his name, delivering a beating and a knockout to Harpur.
