Claire Hunter, a lawyer for Tali'ah Aquilini, told B.C. Supreme Court that the children no longer wish to have any contact with their father and felt "fear and anxiety" about the possibility of him contacting them. She said that Francesco Aquilini had provided child support up until September 2021, but then stopped payments. Aquilini stopped child support payments as he believed information about his childrens' universities was being withheld.
The children described abuse and inappropriate conduct by their dad, including alleged incidents of physical and psychological abuse, the court heard. Three incidents that were cited in the documents allege that Aquilini beat one of his sleeping children, throwing a five-year-old child across a room and punching a child in the stomach.
In a time where Hockey Canada and hockey culture in general is under immense scrutiny and pressure to make changes, you can bet the NHL will promptly begin an investigation and Aquilini will have minimal interaction with the Canucks until the incident is reviewed and a decision on his future in the league has been made.
