The 31-year-old has been around the block, having played 855 career regular season NHL games and 132 additional postseason games. He has played with and against some of the best players in the world. It's safe to say he knows a thing or two about talent.
On Friday, Hedman was asked who his favourite defenseman is. His answer shouldn't really surprise anyone, given the season that the young defenseman has had. Hedman's answer was Cale Makar.
With the combination of speed, skill and deceptive skating that Makar possesses, it's no wonder he's drawing the interest of even the NHL's best players, Hedman included.
Greatness recognizes greatness, as they say. I don't think anyone is going to argue that Hedman isn't great, and the former Norris Trophy winner's appreciation for Cale Makar's game is something that the vast majority of us can agree is warranted.
