As teams are busy making the typical offseason roster tweaks, the New York Islanders are yet to announce a single UFA signing. It could be much like what we saw last season when GM Lou Lamoriello signed several players and opted not to announce his moves until he felt that his work was complete. It just be that the Isles have failed to make competitive pitches to the UFA's who have already signed their new deals.

One thing that the Isles have done, however, is purchase $50,000 worth of Mega Millions tickets. Yes, you read that correctly. The Isles bought 25,000 Mega Millions tickets for a chance at a $1.3B grand prize. What do they plan to do with the winnings? Well, they'd split the winnings between season ticketholders, suite holders, staff and the Isles' children's foundation.

Listen - I get it. 25,000 is a lot of tickets. But of the millions upon millions that have likely been sold in the US, the odds are still astronomical that the Isles hold the winning ticket. So why not just simply donate that $50,000 to their children's charity instead of likely throwing it away for publicity?
