As impressive as the acquisition was for Wild GM Bill Guerin, it was even more impressive how quickly Guerin acted to ensure that Fleury was in Minnesota in time for Monday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
According to The Athletic's Michael Russo, Guerin and Wild owner Craig Leipold went to the airport and flew Leipold's plane to Chicago to pick Fleury up in person. How's that for a shuttle service?
Putting their best foot forward with Fleury was important to both Guerin and Leipold, who are hoping that they can parlay this partnership with Fleury into an extension for next season. Of course, with Fleury being a pending UFA, it's really up to him where he plays next season.
Not a bad day for Fleury all in all, as he goes from the basement of the Central Division to a legitimate Stanley Cup contender.
