The St. Louis Blues got their retribution on the Leafs with a decisive 6-3 win in Toronto on Saturday after the Leafs went into St. Louis and stole a 6-5 OT decision earlier this season.

The game was a fairly good one for Leafs winger William Nylander, who notched two big goals in the affair, but unfortunately a good individual performance from the Swedish forward was not good enough to help his team pick up the two points.

Following the loss, Nylander spoke with the media and gave his take on what prevented his team from skating away with the victory.

"I thought we battled back good there until the beginning of the third and then we kind of lost [O'Reilly] there in the d-zone and one tip, which is obviously sloppy and that's been happening a little bit lately, so we need to dial that down"
-Nylander on Ryan O'Reilly's third period goal to put the Blues up 5-3 before the empty-netter from Buchnevich sealed the deal.

There was a point in the game where Nylander stepped on the ice to play the puck as winger Ilya Mikheyev was headed off the ice, which resulted in a too-many-men penalty against the Leafs. A bit later on, a similar play had occurred where the Blues ended up getting away with one and came back and scored the game-winning goal. When asked about the officials making the call on him, but not against the Blues, Nylander had this to say:

I didn't really see that situation to be honest, but yeah, I mean if it was a similar situation, you obviously want that call. I thought on ours, [Mikheyev] was about to step into the bench.. I thought that was kind of like.. that happens a lot.. Like, to call that one, it's kind of crazy - it's not like he was out in the neutral zone, but it is what it is.

Nylander's pair of goals in the contest brings him up to 19 goals and 47 points in 48 games this season. All signs are pointing to a career year for the 25-year-old.
