The Leafs made a trade yesterday but according to Frank Servalli, they may not be done yet. The insider suggested that the Leafs are looking at acquiring Blackhawks forward Brandon Hagel.

Hagel, is a 23-year-old forward scoring at a 50-point pace this season. The youngster has the ability to play both wing and center and makes just $1.5 million per season until 2024. He's a player that may not have the name recognition, but considering his age, cost efficiency, and skillset - he may be worth the high asking price.

If he exceeds expectations, Ilya Lyubushkin could be the add on defense that the Leafs desperately needed. If that is the case, it gives them flexibility to explore options up front. Hagel checks off many boxes and he'd become a valuable asset for the rest of his current contract for the Leafs.

Hagel plays a gritty style that would help the Leafs in the playoffs. He is a competitive player who plays a similar style to Michael Bunting and adding him could provide the Leafs with a player with a bit more bite. Can you imagine having two Michael Buntings on the same team??

Of course, all of this will rely on how Lyubushkin tests early for the Leafs. He is not expected to be in the lineup in Montreal on Monday, but he is expected to make his Leafs debut on Tuesday in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.

In addition, it's worth noting that the Leafs are not the only team interested in Hagel. If a bidding war begins to form, the Leafs may end up passing on the promising young forward and turning their attention elsewhere
