Hirvonen is in his third and final year of eligibility with the team and has continuously impressed and improved year in and year out.
In 11 international U20 games this season Hirvonen has posted 12 goals and 3 assists for 15 points. The 19-year-old has also produced 6 goals and 10 assists in 28 games with HIFK, his Liiga team, this season.
His ability to shift his play style against different opponents is present but his numbers against Liiga opponents show he is not quite ready for North American opponents. This year's tournament will allow him to continue to dominate similarly aged opponents and gain the confidence to take the next step in his development against older, professional competition.

Hirvonen has plenty of skill and this prospect should excite Leafs fans. Not just for his on ice abilities but his accountability and leadership off the ice. Being named captain at an international level is special.
Hirvonen and countryman Topi Niemelä certainly make Finland's game must watch for Leafs fans.
