Just a couple of weeks ago it was revealed that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Andreas Johnsson had rejected a contract extension offer from the Leafs during the season. According to Darren Dreger, the Leafs offered Johnsson $2.1million on a two year deal and $2.6million on a four year deal around the trade deadline and he declined.
Johnsson bet on himself last offseason and it worked out in his favour as he's coming off a 20 goal season where he also added 23 assists in 73 games. The 24 year old topped off his season with four points in seven playoff games. «The agents and the organization have to talk about that,» Johnsson told Jonas Siegal recently. «Whatever would work best for both (sides).»
Considering he didn't feel like the Leafs offer worked best for him, it sounds like we might not be hearing about a Johnsson signing for a couple of months.
