"The Toronto Maple Leafs' defense has been a hot topic of conversation for the last season or so. Many hoped that the Leafs would go out and try and land a defenseman that could play in the top 4, however that didn't happen and the Leafs move forward with the same group as last year. So instead fans were hoping that someone like Timothy Liljegren or Rasmus Sandin could step up and steal a roster spot but that doesn't look like it has any chance at happening at all. While speaking with the media Leafs head coach Mike Babcock said it's impossible. "They're not taking anyone's job. It's just flat out impossible at this point." Well that's that, you can close the book on Liljegren having any chance at breaking the opening night roster this year. What's disappointing about Babcock's statement is that it's basically telling both Liljegren and Sandin to pack your stuff up and go home because there's no point in fighting it out anymore during the preseason. What do you think of Babcock's comments?
