Babcock Says Matthews Is "Skating At Another Level".

It definitely looks like everything is coming together for the Toronto Maple Leafs so far. John Tavares and Mitch Marner look like they've already developed some chemistry together and now it looks like Auston Matthews is all system go. The Leafs franchise player missed 20 games last season due to various injuries, but that all looks like in its in the past. "He's skating at another level," Babcock told the Maple Leafs website. "I think he's really in shape. He feels good about himself. He put in a lot of work this summer." "Obviously, (he) wasn't happy with how it ended, but he got hurt three times last year and that affected anyway you look at it his ability to stay fit, especially with the injuries he had," Babcock said.Matthews won't play in Tuesday's preseason game, but he's set to dress for Wednesday's game. When the season starts, Matthews is expected to play with Patrick Marleau and William Nylander, however Nylander remains unsigned at the moment.
