"The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas without a doubt have a challenge ahead of them this summer. At the top of the list without a doubt is the Mitch Marner contract which Dubas has publicly stated he can't do anything else until that's taken care of. Along with Marner, Dubas has to figure out new deals for Andreas Johnsson and Kasperi Kapanen, make decisions on UFA's Tyler Ennis, Ron Hainsey, Martin Marincin and Jake Gardiner while finding new homes for Patrick Marleau, Nikita Zaitsev and possibly Connor Brown. If Dubas thought his cap crunch was a headache, it sounds like it'll get worse. According to Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger the NHL salary cap isn't expected to hit the $83million mark everybody had speculated. McKenzie reports the cap won't even hit $82million.This really backs Dubas into a corner and will without a doubt be a defining moment in his young career.
