A former fan favourite in Toronto, largely remembered for his likeable demeanor and his love for soup, Mikheyev is reportedly on the trading block in Vancouver as the Canucks look to open up some cap space.
The former KHL star was signed as a free agent by the Maple Leafs back in 2019 and while he was somewhat productive in his time in Toronto, Mikheyev has struggled to replicate that success in Vancouver. Over his last two seasons, Mikheyev has produced just 28 and 31 points consecutively.
Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli is so certain that Mikheyev will be traded that he has placed the Russian winger at #6 on his summer trade board.
At this point, given Mikheyev's cap hit and lack of production, I sincerely doubt we'll see a reunion in Toronto this summer, but stranger things have happened.
Mikheyev has 2 years remaining on his current deal, which carries a $4.75M cap hit.
