Last night the Toronto Maple Leafs lost their first game of the preseason 3-1 to the Ottawa Senators. While it's only preseason, it's always interesting to see what kind of experiments coaches do with players. One of the experiments for the Leafs and head coach Mike Babcock is finding Jason Spezza a role that makes everybody happy, and listening to Babcock, that's not sure to happen. Spezza who's always been more of an offensive forward during his career, is a bottom six forward on the Leafs and possibly a penalty killer. It's a role that Babcock isn't sure Spezza will like and it sounds like the relationship might not be off to the best start. «(Spezza) is trying to figure out if he's interested, and we're doing the same.»
«He's never had a role (like this). We're going to have him penalty killing, taking face-offs, playing on the fourth line. It's not what you're used to. It's a totally different thing. So we're just going to keep plugging away and see where it goes."
