The Toronto Maple Leafs have a big summer ahead of them and a lot of that is thanks to Mitch Marner and his contract situation. However Marner isn't the only player looking for a new contract as general manager Kyle Dubas has quite the amount of work ahead. One of those expiring contracts is defenseman Jake Gardiner and some believe the Leafs can't afford to lose Gardiner with an already thin defensive group. However Jeff Blair of Sportsnet isn't in that group and believes the Leafs must let Gardiner walk and promote Travis Dermott. Blair points out that Dermott has benefited greatly by Jake Muzzin eating up more minutes and now playing with Ron Hainsey, coming to the conclusion that Dermott has pushed Gardiner out of the Leafs future plans. Even at a hometown discount, Blair doesn't want Gardiner back, are you on the same page?
