There's been lots of rumblings over the last month regarding Toronto Maple Leafs' coaches and Marlies' head coach Sheldon Keefe. While Mike Babcock seems to be the man that will be behind the Maple Leafs' bench at the start of next season, it seems likely that two of his assistants, DJ Smith and Jim Hiller, are likely gone for other positions in the league. There's also been various reports of Sheldon Keefe leaving his position at the end of the AHL season to possibly take the Buffalo Sabres head coaching job. It would be a tough blow for the Leafs' as Keefe is expected to be Babcock's successor because of his tight relationship with GM Kyle Dubas. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman commented on the Keefe rumours while appearing on WGR 550 in Buffalo recently. "If someone wanted him as their head coach, I don't think Toronto would stand in his way. However, Dubas and Keefe are tight, and barring something strange happening, Keefe is in line to replace Mike Babcock as head coach of the Maple Leafs."
It'll be an interesting to scenario to watch play out, especially if the Marlies win another Calder Cup.
