With the NHL trade deadline now just over 1 week away, Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving hasn't been willing to pay the ask to facilitate a trade. Toronto has their 2024 first round pick draft pick at their disposal but may be more inclined to part with a prospect instead.

Toronto's 2023 first round pick, Easton Cowan, is a name that rival general managers would be asking Treliving about. Cowan has been electric for the London Kings this season. The 18-year-old is on a Knights franchise record twenty-six game point streak dating back to late November. Cowan is in the record books ahead of names like Patrick Kane, Mitch Marner, and Corey Perry in this regard.

Nick Alberga & Jay Rosehill from The Leafs Nation's "Leafs Morning Take" were talking about Toronto's hottest prospect and his point streak in a recent episode. Rosehill believes Cowan should be an untouchable asset.

"He's putting up 'I'm too good for this league' numbers. Do you know who's played with them. You're doing things that none of them could ever do. We're talking about Stanley Cup champions, big time hardware winners in the NHL, potential Hall of Famers.

He's a guy that I couldn't package him in a deal to get a loaner defenceman to go into the playoffs and who knows what could happen. To lose that guy in a deal and watch his career and what he might become would be one of those Leafs stories where they dump this guy for nobody who did nothing for us and now he's going on to have a Hall of Fame Career."

Treliving will need to part ways with something of value if he wants to upgrade this roster between now and the the March 8th trade deadline, but Cowan should be one name that remains out of any deals.
