After ditching the Leafs for the Nashville Predators last off-season in what some saw as a shocking move, Luke Schenn did some heavy recruiting this year for the Preds, helping them land Steven Stamkos as he mentioned on today's edition on 'Leafs Morning Take' with Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill.
Schenn was also asked about Berube replacing Sheldon Keefe and what he brings to the Leafs, based on the time Schenn spent playing under Berube when they were both with the Philadelphia Flyers from 2013 to 2015.
Telling it like it is is something that Sheldon Keefe tried to do, but many fans saw him rephrase or walk back his public comments the following day. The one thing fans are hoping for under Berube, that Keefe failed to do, is hold his stars accountable.
Often when Mitch Marner, William Nylander or Auston Matthews made a costly mistake, they would either miss a shift or not miss any at all while other players on the roster would miss a shift or more for the same mistake. When Brad Treliving was hired as general manager, he wanted to create one identity for the Leafs so that it wasn't the "Core Four" plus 18 and hopefully bringing in Berube helps create that unison.
