"Former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Matt Hunwick hit a major personal milestone when he took the ice for his first shift for the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Columbus Blue Jackets as he has now played in 500 career NHL games.
The road to 500 games was a long one after being selected in the seventh round of the 2004 Entry NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins. Hunwick has played with the Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, Maple Leafs and Penguins.
He played the most games, 164, with the Bruins coming in just ahead of the 132 games he played with Maple Leafs the past two seasons. He scored three goals and 29 points to go along with his -9 goal differential and a 48.1 CF% during his time in Toronto.
He has three goals and an assist in his 21 games with the Penguins after signing as a free agent over the summer.
