"The heat is on. Over the last 24hrs chatter is building up that the New York Islanders will present Mitch Marner with an offer sheet. Of course Marner has to sign the actual offer sheet, but according to some, his advisors will likely advise him to do because it'll guarantee a huge payday. Just how big of a payday?David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed on Friday what those numbers will likely look like. While speaking on Sportsnet590, Pagnotta said "He doesn't know the number for sure but that he's heard 12.5Mx7 years."The Islanders only have $8.6million in salary cap space at the moment, but all teams are allowed to exceed the salary cap by almost 10% up until the season opens so it would give the Islanders plenty of time to figure things. It would also give the Leafs plenty of time to do the same.
Pagnotta says he doesn't know the number for sure but that he's heard 12.5Mx7 years. Islanders, Devil's, and Columbus sniffing around the RFA market, not necessarily Mitch Marner. — James (@Account4hockey) July 5, 2019
